When to Go:
Bhutan is a small country but its weather changes with its topography. The northern part of Bhutan which borders Tibet is covered with snow all the times. While western, central and eastern Bhutanmostly has cold European-like weather. Southern Bhutan bordering India has sub-tropical climate. The four seasons are quite distinct here with winters being very cold and chilly, expanding from November to March. Summers are moderate and spring and autumn are pleasant. So the best time to travel in Bhutan is during spring and autumn in the months of October, November and April to mid June. During these months the climate is absolutely perfect for sightseeing. Bhutan also witnesses good amount of rainfall during monsoon season between June and August. All of these different weather conditions in Bhutan are beautiful and can be enjoyed.


Transport Facility:
Air: Bhutan’s only international airport is Paro Airport (PBH), located in the south-west of the country. Druk Air is the national carrier of Bhutan, which operates flights toBangkok, New Delhi, Kolkata, Gaya, Siliguri, Kathmandu, Dhaka and Yangon. No tickets are issued without a visa clearance by Druk Air. Rail: Bhutan does not have any rail links but a link from India is said to be under-construction. Other nearest rail connections are all in India - Hasimara, which is on the main Kolkata/Siliguri toAssam is close to Phuentsholing. The other one - New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) inSiliguri is more known and used by travelers. Road: One can enter Bhutan by road through India; just take a bus to Phuentsholing run by The Royal Bhutanese Government. These buses depart fromKolkata’s Esplanade bus stop on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and from the Phuentsholing Bhutan Post office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday. These bus journeys are long and can be a little uncomfortable. Apart from this, you can also take direct shared taxis from NJP to Jaigaon or buses from Siliguri bus station.
